To answer your question -insert name-. I am not a truck driver so I probably would have taken out the telephone pole on the side walk too. I will be going to tractor training in Oct. I have been doing a lot of reading and the road test says it's a fail hitting the curb so I assumed truck drivers didn't hit curbs.

i'd be more concerned with the switching lane routines he was using....seems like turn signals are common sense no matter what you driveCAXPT Thanks this. -
Some curbs get hit no matter what. Poor intersection layout. Others are hit for no reason other than crappy drivers. As someone else said it was probally a guy pulling a seacan, if so im not surprised in the least bit. The container haulers up here are the worst of the worst with no training or common sense.
O/p which intersection was it cause i think i know the one you are talking about. If so i can be done without running up the curb. And yes for the nj road test hitting the curb is a automatic fail. -
there is no reason to hit the curb, 53 or not sounds like the guy would get an epic fail on a retest, which the DOT is looking at as part of the new rules. You will find if you treat other drivers, car or truck in a decent manner others will see and treat you the same way. Some of us now run with CCTV cameras, any questions regarding logs entries can be see on the replay of the cameras. They also record what bad drivers are doing if you feel they are driving in a dangerous manner report them. The life you save may be your own.

I know when I drive in downtown Patterson, nj I run over some of the curbs, even taking the entire oncoming lane both beside and in front even of me, some shippers are in places designed for 48 foot trailers and cabover tractors that used to be the standard, you better not hit one on the CDL test but in the real world it happens all the time in downtown areas.
CAXPT, TRKRSHONEY, dirtyjerz and 1 other person Thank this. -
Once got a stop sign in the downtown area, didn't knock it over but it left a pretty mark on the trailer, while at the same time taking the rear clearance light.
NJ is I place I turn down UNLEE the load has miles, anything going to NJ under 400 I won't take. -
I did NOT go that far up onto the sidewalk!
Jeez..... -
