lol, thanks for the laugh. I know it sounded like a complaint but I was just trying to make an observation. The four wheelers are worse, they tend to pull out in front from a parking lot or street they don't even slow down. Some just hits the breaks, turn and then signal. I nearly side swiped a women going round a round a bout, she didn't even look to the left before entering it, you should have seen the look on her face when she finally looked left. I just have to laugh, I am in no rush to be dead or be in an accident.
I drive all over the tri state areas and some days it's just like demolition derby driving, especially in NYC, The trick to it is just look forward. When my husband drives in the city sometimes I have to cover my eyes and pucker. He drivers a cable hauling work truck in there every night, playing tag with the cabs. The "right of way" is who gets there first. I have to admit it has made me a safer driver. If you can drive in the Tri state area you can drive any where.
How not to drive.

What do you expect from a populace that gives us.....SNOOKIE!?!
On a serious note, NJ drivers aren't just bad in their own home state, whenever I see them in my home state they're just as bad, rude, crude and obtuse.
Hate Jersey....was driving on the 1-9 to get to a drop and I didn't have to worry about hitting the curbs and rail guards, the rail guard (cement/metal post) was leaning out to hit me...it was all I could do to veer to the right of the lane (what little there was) without hitting someone and also not taking out the tandems(was driving a box at the time). Left a slight scratch on the metal protector of the van though.
Yeah, Coatesville, PA roads like PA 82 /US 30 is a tight turn, but do it all the time with a spread axle, if they take their time and wait on traffic. Pennsylvania drivers for the most part, are some of the most truck friendly/aware drivers I have seen. New Jersey, the most unfriendly no matter what you drive.HwyPrsnr Thanks this. -
CAXPT Thanks this.

Like the ones who stop three ft past the big white line at an intersection and then give you the hairy eyeball when you have to almost hit them turning?
My only problem in new jersey is that all the signs are in the trees.CAXPT Thanks this. -
And why are all the telephone poles out in the street?

That's how I get around when I have to go there
dumb luck -
I suspect this was a local driver of a small local drayage carrier, probably? I truly feel that in a few select major metro areas (tri-state area chief among them), many fake CDL drivers are on the streets. These are probably held by Russian illegals with all of the necessary documents bought as necessary. Many of the drivers there have no formal training and little if any informal training. Nepotism and "friends hiring friends" is the name of the game with many of these local carriers. As long as they get the loads delivered, picked up, and back to the yard by 7:00 pm, they are considered valuable employees. there is very little CMV enforcement in that region, by either state and the local carriers don't worry much about infractions or inspections.
But to be fair, driving day in and day out in that world you have to learn to be aggressive, and keep moving at any costs. These "drivers" are actually pretty good skill-wise, but they are not interested in presenting a professional image. the major curb hop you viewed was probably intentional, just to get down the road. -
Using your turn signals in Jersey is giving away your strategy to the enemy.
The can haulers out there are crazy though. There's a bar in Kearny you can get trucks in. Saw a lot of can haulers buy a six pack and a pint then hop in the truck and head to work.CAXPT Thanks this. -
Gb2nyc i was just about to get on you about calling a circle a round a bout but then i saw your from the uk. Your forgiven.
Caxpt wow i had to reread your post. Did you say pa drivers are nicer and more aware? Never headed to the south jersey shore before? Theyre some of the worst out there. As far as your encounter on 1-9 that doesnt suprise me. I try to.avoid.1-9.but sometimes ya cant. And snooki is from new york. Please dont make us take responsibility for her.
Pete i will give that person who pulls past the line the look of death and sit there if i cant make the turn. And we dont need street signs, we know where were going. Oh the poles in the road might be from a widing project in progress.
Stexan and dirtybob, your right about the drayage and can drivers. Crazies.
Jersey is a special place to drive. Not for the timid but hey, if you can drive here, you can anywhere. I drive here everyday.
