So with that OTR thing there is a small chance you could heave cleared codes... even if you could have they would have came right back on because the wire to the def pump is still broken. Doubt it would get you any further then you did without it.
If the system works properly there is no need to do manual regens. If you keep needing to do manual regens there is something wrong.
How often can I do forced regeneration?

My understanding is.
You can't clear codes. Without the software.
It's stored for memory so when diagnostics are performed. The mechanic can find out how many times the code activates. And supposedly what caused it to activate by some chart or something. LIke the computer records things.
That's what I've been told by the mechanics that have had to come out and fix my computer issues when I"m stranded somewhere.Battlecruiser Thanks this. -
If you do a forced Regen. Do not have it do a Regen, then shut the truck off. Let it run for a while. Probably ten minutes. Besides the DPF, the DOC will be really hot. If you shut it down without things cooling off, that can crack/melt a DPF or DOC

Heck for the price of the that tool u bought u can download a cracked version of the software a $100 laptop and the Adapater $600. Works much better then these tools they sell.
ColumbiaBoB and Battlecruiser Thank this. -
I'll look into that in the future, would be a good idea if I start working on my own truck. Like I said before my main reason for getting this thing was to just clear the codes quickly and get to my mechanic without getting stuck on the road.

If you are going to steal something, why not steal it? Why pay to have someone else steal it?
-
What are you talking about? Why would you Steal a Laptop and an Adapter?ColumbiaBoB Thanks this.

He's talking about the software that may or may not work. And may or may not include viruses that generally come with trying to steal software.
-
I don't steal I use free software that someone else stole. Plenty of Clean copy's out there just gotta look.
-
Unless you have a right to a copy of said software it's stealing. If it was cracked by someone else or not is irrelevant, what matters is copyright law. If the owner of said software did not give permission you have no right to use it.pushbroom Thanks this.
