I stop whenever I want. I don't work for a company where I gotta dog myself out. I stop for a short break every 3-4 hours tops.

Hey, I just read what PJW044 said. I have been doing research into this because I am worried about iron-butt driving. On one hand I wanna make money but on the other hand I have to be healthy to work!! Apparently after driving for 4 hours, your blood is not mooving and clouts form in your calf. If this go to your heart or brain you can die! My sister wants me to get a device to prevent this but I dunno what works? Any body using anything to improve bloodflow wihle driving??

PJW044 is dead on... literally! It doesn't matter if you're tall, short, black white, whatever. Iron butting can and will cause DVT. If you must or want to do iron but driving, then just make sure you stretch. Almost yoga, deep stretches will help, and flexing your muscles while driving will get the blood moving in your legs. There are all kinds of seated moves and stretches you can do while hurdleing down the interstate. I dont think iron butting is wrong, just make sure to reduce the risk of DVT.

Rob G, DVT is also common in pilots, and long distance or frequent flyers. They sell socks for these people. I think its a tight sock and goes to your knees. It keeps the blood from pooling in your legs. You could try this, just remember to not wear shorts and get out at the truck stop..... cuz im gonna laff at you,lol

None of these exercises, or the pressure stockings will replace stopping and actually getting off the seat and walking a bit. That isn't to say they don't help though. But you just can't beat pulling off the road and W A L K I N G a bit every couple of hour or so. You don't have to do it for long. But if you're at the average rest area, park out a ways, walk in and take a leak. Do some stretching, and walk back to your truck.

I assume most companies give you a specified route to follow to get to the destination? Do they "build" in time to take breaks?

Big Don you are right, but some guys that aren't going to stop stopping.... can give themselves a little better chance.
Personally, I should get a dog to travel with, then people wouldn't notice my girly bladder. Blame it on the dog for stopping.
Too many years holding it, hasn't helped the natural ageing process. And now my back can't handle the seat time like it used to either.

allniter and Big Don Thank this.

That's hard on the body to sit that long. It is good to walk around and stretch every couple hours.
