6 months without cb. My garmin gps and phone warn me about traffic. None of warehouses call you on cb. To much bs on cb. When I had one I could never get useful info.

There was a few times something big happened around the USA and within a hour or two everyone would have the news over the radio. Imagine the millions passing the word...

Having experience in technology, and have a smart phone... It's assumed that one with a CB doesnt like technology? So if there's an accident ahead or construction, you'll just check your phone while driving? Don't think so... Plus many accidents that happen, usually don't get reported until police have arrived and submitted the data. I guess relying on signs on the road way also means I don't like using a GPS... A GPS won't tell me that the right lane is going to end in 2 miles.

The thing about accidents is by the time you hear about most accidents even if you have a few minutes heads up via a CB it is in most cases still to late. Yes you MIGHT be able to find an exit but if you ask someone in safety they will tell you a lot of accidents and incidents arise from exiting the freeway. Another problem with exiting the freeway in states like New Jersey you might land on a truck prohibited highway. I ran a CB for years and honestly I got caught up in backups just about as much as when I finally got to the point that I just turned it off. So to be honest with my experience as a million + miles driver these comments about avoiding accidents while I agree with most points made they fall on deaf ears.

If you run dump trailer or Tri axle it's a necessity just about every sand pit and quarry use them .I laughed and shook my head at the Wakefield shop rite warehouse in nj.they asked if you had a CB.most said no,guard said come check back in a half hour. I said yes went back to my truck and in two minutes guard called me on the CB and gave me a door. The CB is far from dead it's just we're on different channels then 19,copy!

on my route, there is truck traffic, but nearly everyone else is quiet. only the occasional 2 or 3 company drivers running on the highway together makes some listening.

so i leave it on, low volume, but that is about it.
