It depends on which trucking company, which truck model, and which year the truck is made. Almost all freightliners made recently come with adaptive cruise from the factory. Insurance companies are mandating several safety features be installed to continue insurance coverage. Every system has its good points and bad points. Adaptive cruise and collision mitigation (auto emergency brakes) have their downsides.

Most of the smart cruise-control CC will activate at some slight speed above the set speed. My Volvo let me decide how many MPH above the set speed before the CC would activate the engine-brake. My Freightliners and my KW would activate the engine-brake or Jake brake at 3 mph but I could prevent that activation if my "gas pedal" was any position above idle. The automatic systems are nice in certain predictable situations and can cause more harm in fewer unpredictable situations.

The truck I'm driving has adaptive cruise control. I like it, the truck only has the front radar. So it pretty smooth but it's not smooth if stopping truck. I read the newer trucks with camera and stuff in the windshield plus the front radar can bring truck to complete stop very smooth. That's in freightliner

Def very high 90+%, I'm big about maintaining steady speed.

When I was otr they didn’t pay me enough to drive the truck, so I just held the steering wheel

    scott180 and Gabe85 Thank this.

Otr I made out at about 600 a week no matter how I ran until I got a dedicated account. That cpm sounds good but are the miles there? What about the accessorial pay? I made out pretty good local .. I’m pulling in about 1400-1500 weekly just to sit in gas stations and wait for gravity to take a leak
