I stopped using it years ago when I realized I could get better mileage by foot. I'm sure technology is better now but I still like the feel of using the peddle and being mentally connected to my truck. Mega training outfits cram down new drivers throats to use cruise to save fuel. I honestly believe it's the root cause of half of all truck crashes. Maybe more.
D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -

Same, and its not even close . i can get .5 mpg better or more with my foot then i can with the cruise... Some guys just go by what they are told and never actually experiment with it. Ive tested it many many times. The only time theres not much difference is on flat land like maybe out in kansas...sealevel Thanks this.

Even flat stretches with rough roads i cant stand the cruise (even my dumb cruise)
I have nothing to actually back it up but putting full power to the drives and potentially hitting a pothole cant be doing the drivetrain any favors. I tend to let off the accelerator when i know im going to hit a major bump (i70 indiana comes to mind)D.Tibbitt Thanks this. -
cat used to have a nice program for cruise, would softly “roll into” it rather then just WOT or offD.Tibbitt Thanks this.

I tried using it but it just didn't sit well with me. I like being in full control at all times.

Oh, if I had to guess, I'd say it's probably around 70% for me. I come off cruise for hills, or if traffic is bunching up, or what else happens.

It's very entertaining, how self-deluded some cowboys are. (Not a jab at the post immediately preceding this post.)
