How realistic is it to make 75-80k a year eventually?

See I like my truck. Doesn't bother me at all. I like truck stops, I like trucking.
I even have my cats with me.

It makes a difference liking what you do.

Unless driving is in your blood and you love trucks, then don’t do it. I make about 70-72 k a year now, but it took a couple years. I’ve been driving for 6 years now. Spotless record but I’d much rather have a normal job. I’m home every night, but I’d love to be in a job that wasn’t driving. But then again, I love trucks.

All my income is interest income and I get several 1099s. Normally mine is done way before now. My Vanguard 1099 B had 2 serious errors. Then I noticed my Hartford 1099 R was screwed up. Takes a long time to fix this crap.

If you can max out Your 401K ($18,000) and max out your Roth IRA (up to $6,500) put that in Fidelity or vanguard S&P index fund and stay employed, that could help you alot.

That's right. I wouldn't punch a time clock or work in an office for $100K a year. To some of us that type work is like attending our own funeral every day. Do what makes you happy and gives you some job satisfaction.
But, if you're miserable in trucking, don't try to bring the rest of us down with you. Quit coming up with all the phoney excuses as to why you do a job you hate for years or decades. Many truckers recommend flipping burgers vs. trucking, to young people; so, why not follow their own advice?

And I've been out for 4 weeks with one to go. Was by the house last week for one night.
Through the teeth of wtf winter storms, all the while just living in the truck.

A lot of people would have blown their brains out weeks ago.

OP why truck driving? Is it just for the money?
