How realistic is it to make 75-80k a year eventually?

KLLM also owns FFE (Frozen Food Express) which has cdl school at Prairie State College in Chicago. Good company, but doubt he can make the money he wants working there; maybe, I don't know for sure.
He really need to get hired with a tanker or line haul outfit such as Old Dominion Freight Lines.

Right, but my point was you'll be limited one way or the other due to HOS requirements. Granted, you can run recap hours and get more miles in during a given week, and some people like to run that way. However, most drivers prefer the simplicity of the 34-hour reset and enjoy the opportunity to get out of the truck for a weekend. The problem with recap hours is that it rarely works perfectly to run like that. And if you can, you are sitting for 14 hours off duty throughout the week instead of 10. That's great if you like video games, I guess.

Now, if I were stuck out in BFE and had to do a reset in a truck stop, I'd definitely run on recap hours to avoid sitting for 34 hours. But my point is no matter how you choose to run, the government will force you to take a break of some type along the way. That may not be a 34-hour reset, but they will definitely hold you back.

In our world, you run how the pickup and delivery appointments let you run. If the load appointment on the receiving end requires three 10-11 hour days, and you want to run three 8-9 hour days, you're going to be in a real jam trying to find time to make both the delivery and the subsequent pickup in time.

I've been running in the reefer world so long, I can't even imagine trucking where you run how you want to run. Every now and then we'll get a load with too much or extra time on it, but not as a general rule. Besides, I've always been of the mindset "make hay while the sun shines", rest near the receiver when/if you get there early.

Honestly though. If all you do is dropping and hooking. The heaviest thing you lift is a serving spoon. No your not going to make a lot of money.

They might not ship your job overseas but they might end up shipping your minimum wage replacement from overseas.

Oh one more thing. Truckers are pampered and make hundreds of thousands of dollars and don't do anything but show up to work. Their life's are like a dream and they are never under stress. Oh did I mention EVERYBODY can be a trucker and anybody that trys to warn you it is otherwise are evil @@@@@@@@@,s that are just being mean.

Edited to mention that all truckers gather at night and sing Kumbaya.
