How realistic is it to make 75-80k a year eventually?

I was just in NLV doing a 34 the other week. Thought about getting in contact and sticking around Henderson over by the dam instead. Good thing I didn’t. Spent the next 40 hours throwing up in the Petro parking lot with the flu lol

Still here, or at least still in NJ. Was given a load assignment at 0800 that was 40 miles away due for pick up at 1600. Get there at 1430 and the pick-up number was of course wrong so I called broker and got a new one. Went back to the guard shack with new number and of course I get informed that the load was shipped already, FIVE DAYS AGO!

Call broker back and was given a third number, go back and it's no good. Call broker yet again and given yet another number, same thing; load was shipped already. Call broker back and told to wait 30 minutes while they look into it. Finally company calls me and says to deadhead out of there as the load was canceled.

Anyone familiar with this state knows how rare truck stops are and I was very lucky to find a gas station along a state route with parking for five trucks. So it looks like it will be a sink shower for me tonight and over 48hrs wasted slithering around NJ for nearly free.

This is the type of crap you'll be dealing with OP. I am on track to make $60k this year. I hope you're good at flip-flopping your sleep schedule because sometimes you'll be driving at night and other times during the day. Stay where you're at is my best advice.

Most of these problems are with the mega carriers, which I don't see why people stay for over a year or go at all. Started off at 70k regional last year, home every Thursday or Friday to Monday, & home during the week at least one day doing reefer. Could be more if I want it. At 80k now. I did my research prior & there are well paying companies without being on the road for weeks but I also throw a little freight that I am well compensated for. Had a few company drivers make 100k+ but were out for weeks and weeks at a time. Find a company that actually cares about you

I certainly appreciate the offer but I am going to have a talk with them as soon as I'll get back to the yard. I am wanting to get them to run me strictly west. I like the company and the truck they gave me. It's just these east and short runs that are wearing me thin. If nothing improves by six weeks I may indeed be looking for something else and will keep you in mind. Thanks again.

How about an ole epileptic now with NO CDL but a clean driving record and a 7 figure logged safe career miles?

    Office job? Dispatching? DM?
    Safety person?
Hook up with a big outfit and go from terminal to terminal doing safety presentations.
Be a maintenance auditor and check comp;iance for BIT inspections.
There's lots of things available in trucking besides driving, especially with your experience.

My basic problem is I can't stand for much longer then 4 or 5 minutes without getting dizzy and I am in and out of the Hampton VA hospital a lot. I have 2 long standing job offers to work in safety. However both require me to relocate and with all my medical issues I can't accept them.
