I hate to disagree. However, I have never heard a truck driver lie.

Your working 55 hours a week for 75 grand a year.
    And your home at night.
I make 75 grand but I've been out here 25 years.
I'd trade places with you today if I could.
Well maybe not since you live in Chicago, but you
    Get the point.

Don't be stupid, your better off than 90 percent
    Of the drivers out here.
Most don't have a pot to piss in.

My dad made 150k a year and suffered from depression and emptyness. Blew it all gambling. Money can't buy happiness, but i know what i need to support my family. Making money while being miserable isn't the American dream.

First lets dispel some myths, hyperbole and in some cases out right lies! There is NO jobs in trucking where you are going to make these kinds of dollars unless you are willing to invest some hard work! Most drivers that are reporting these dollars are either on jobs they have had for years and moved up into good accounts or they are working their butts off working long hours and/or away from home a huge amount. Your first few years trucking you are NOT going to make these big bucks and anybody telling you this is telling you a lie.

This seems like the common reaction. Very little happiness in driving?

Any "high numbers" you read about or hear about are exceptions to the norm. (the "up to" numbers the recruiters like to use) Exceptions exist in any trade or professional career. Can't everybody be in the upper echelons of the segment. For every truck driver making $80k/yr and home regularly, there's 30 making less then $50k/yr and home sporadically, at best. And advancement upward is a slow process for most, for a lot of reasons.

Just keep your expectations realistic is all I'm saying.

    For half the money.

You are about to make a huge mistake giving up a 75K home at night, weekends off, benefits career for Trucking. You are not getting the answers on the forum you were hoping for. My final blunt advice, Don't be a malcontent and "#### up your life" like I did because I was not grateful for what I had.

    You have been warned.
