He's crossing state lines, so he's subject to FMCSA. They claim anything over 10k gvwr is a CMV.
Sure he could be driving a box truck less than 10k, but I'd like to see that unicorn....

But thats when operated as a cmv. When your not operating as a cmv its null and void.

If I wanna drive a 4 axle large car around the country not engaging in cmv operation. You are not subject to cmv law.

So bringing up vans when talking about box trucks.... Hope you realize that is two different vehicles...
But as you obviously can't be wrong, I'm done.

A cutaway with a box installed is a box truck.

The 10,001 deal is when engaging in interstate commerce when its effective.

If your not engaged in inter/intrastate commerce, its not a commercial vehicle and your not subject to cmv law.

    Can't enforce something your not.

Just read more you will see this.

    <26k, no IFTA needed.

Just bought another truck two states over, titled, registered, and insured under the farm name, agriculture plates, not for hire, will display name and DOT# as required. I'll have no problems.

BTW, @jamespmack , I took your advice and purchased an IH 7100, LOL....

Under your interpretation my f350 utility bed truck has a gvw of 10k lbs. If I fill that with camping gear to 10,001lbs and head to another state, your saying I'm a commercial vehicle?

You have proven me wrong before, I admitted it.

. Hope it works well for you Sir. There is one forsale down the road from me. I didn't tell you about it. One, its a retired Estes and still the puke yellow. Two, its a farmer getting rid of it, 3 I know them.

Tanx, I know how you love them so ;).... Well, if a farmer is getting rid of it, thanks, but I probably wouldn't want to take it on, LOL.

Took me a couple of months to find this one, but I hope worth it. '90, DT 466, mech pump, pre-emm, pre-eld, 238k orig miles. Old boy has had it for years, only used it in the summer to pull his RV, really good shape and runs great. He kept it up. I'll get it back here and go right thru it, need it for next Spring....

Plan on keeping it as a spare unit, for now anyway, be hard pressed to find another in as good a shape as that one. Good reliable local truck, but heavy on gas, and too light on power for interstate work.

One of the wholesaler's I contract with is expecting to hopefully expand out next year. We'll see what happens, his builder's are currently having problems with the supply chain (windows, hardware, etc), shocked I know.

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those coils you pull end up my way ultimately as roofing tin. There's a roller not far from here that supplies most of the roofing tin in this neck of the woods.

Anyway, this is going off topic, so I'll show myself out...
