Heard of more than one scale game.
Angles change depending on the circumstances.

    Sometimes they Load light!
Add a steer tire, or both to the back of the scale!
Scales a full load or close, but 5 to 10K less material per load.
Lighter truck, less fuel, less wear and tear!
    Everyone sees "appropriate weights"

    Not Nice..
There are many rackets out there.

There was this one driver who had his wife with him. They scaled out and went inside. He was 400 lbs overweight. He mentioned to the cashier he didn't usually bring his wife on the truck.

They said they've never seen such an ### whooping.

OK so I scaled today and snapped a pic of what I was talking about..... four plates. Then I asked the scale lady if I could get a weight for each trailer axle she said nope. See attached pic

Right ... 4 "plates" but only 3 platforms. The rear platform has an expansion joint. And they are all like this no matter where in the nation you are.

Never knew that thanks. Always figured I could just ask to scale steers, drives, middle set and rear set. Pretty easy to tell I've never pulled B trains isn't it?

I've seen dirt and gravel haulers do this a few times. What's really fun is some of these CAT scales when you're loaded heavy and they tell you that you're illegal. Did a load of steel plates in a container being shipped to China, can was loaded on a 3 axle chassis. 10,900 steer, 30,500 drives, 38,600 tridem = 80,000. CAT scale tried to tell me I was illegal, I pointed out I had 6 axles, with the heaviest being on the 3 axle rear. Didn't care swore up and down I was illegal. Told her I'd run it and take my chances. No one batted an eye.
