Trucking companies have different reasons they don't count local experience ; insurance, trip planning, life style change, knowledge of laws, etc. They won't admit what it comes down to is STARTING PAY! You come in with experience and they need to pay more vs. you coming in with what they call "no experience". That is all it comes down to, money

Thats where I'd normally lead with my convo. with them but nope, they don't let you even go that far because as you said, it all boils down to the money.

Just like over the road you gotta find the right company. Some of our local guys make $80k. Linehaul drivers get close to $100k.

When they ask you that, look straight at him or her, and say" I have more freaking miles on my Gym Shoes, than you have driving".:laughing-guffaw::laughing-guffaw::laughing-guffaw:

Id be insulted if a company told me my years of local p&d and linehaul experience didnt qualify me to hold a steering wheel for 650 miles a day.
