I've been plumbing the last five years with my uncles company. Haven't gone anywhere successful with it. A big reason I want to do this. So as far as a buisness plan goes, what are things to consider? Fuel, road tax, DOT fines, Parts & Labor, General Maintance, IFTA? I don't how much money goes where and when though. Thats what scares me. I never talked to him about the paper work side of things, I know theres daily drivers logs, keeping reconds on when and where you bought fuel, how many miles in each state. I know its a bit different from driving my pick-up out on a trip; but how much different? Buisness is where I'm weak.
I uploaded a picture of my truck and trailer into my gallery.
How to become something?

Having once owned my own business I can say its the paperwork that got me! I had the passion, knowledge, and ability but when it came to running numbers and doing paperwork, fuggetaboutit.
There will be books at the bookstore and library about the legal issues surrounding starting a business (in general terms) specific to your state. I would assume you want to be a LLC but I could be wrong.
That is about all I can help you with as there are more knowledge ppl on here that can help with the specifics for trucking.
I wish you well. -

What's the word? Any progress or new developments?

You are telling it NOT like it is, but how YOU see it. Big difference.
And a sad one, imo.
KO1927, listen to PP very carefully so you'll know how NOT to think about your dream, and you'll do fine.
Attitude is where the rubber meets the road... everything else is just learning, planning, and accomplishing the tasks.

EDIT I meant "A. Keffer Inc." (the original poster) where I mistakenly typed KO1927, but it applies to both. Sorry for any confusion.Last edited: Sep 1, 2010

I'm in a different situation than Mr. Keffer, and am nowhere near start up yet. (still working on refining my skills, raising capital comes after that) However, I know that I can learn from his experiences (if he continues to post).
I just thought I'd see if the OP had an update, and I'd like to see him be successful.
