First time I changed one of the new types, on my 1990 Cutlass, I didn’t know about not touching them, oil from skin, causing them to fail. Instead while holding the tip of the light, told my wife to “turn them on”. Burned a hole into my finger, in about 3 seconds. They get real hot real quick!!

the oil in your fingerprint is enough to cause the bulb to fracture due to the heat. Had the plugs burn on my Silverado only to furn shortly again. Used a meter to determine + from - instead of the wire colors and it's been fine. Usually there are different numbers for high and low beams and for straight and angle base mount
