The first thing I would do is.Get a 1/2 inch wrench & take the Dust cover/s off, So you can see what's going on In there, when the park brake is applied & released..

Trailer is a Great Dane 2005 flatbed. I'm not going to fix it myself. Just trying to disable so I can get it fixed.

Skate-Board sounds like you have S-cam roll over. How were the brakes working before the repairs?
It the brakes weren't locking up before I doubt this is your problem.
Is it possible they installed a drum the wrong size.
Like others said. IF you cage the brakes that will prevent them from operating.
    Good luck.

The brakes, springs, bushings and drums are all brand new. Just done. I did have a problem before with my brakes sticking but now it's REALLY bad to a point when I'm empty they lock up and skid for a while after braking.

You guys keep giving him bad advice! !

Once again caging the brake only eliminates the parking brake.service still works.

You have to plug or put a vise grip on service line going to brake pot
To stop it from working and get you to a repair shop

    Snailexpress Thanks this.

Ya, thanks. My mechanic did say that when I just called. I have a set of sort of like vise grips that are for hoses. They have a flat end that pivots. Finally get to use them!!!

In a pinch a regular vice grips with a couple of quarters works good.

Remember to secure the vice grips to the hose with a couple zip ties or wire. Just in case it would slip off.

Should have said rod travel I guess. When you back brake off,how much does it move. Looking at the rod, where it goes into chamber. Does it look centered or off to one side?
