Wondering why you just can't cover the front distance alert doohicky with tape to stop it from annoying you. In high volume traffic it is very distracting

I don’t have an issue with mine. I tend to stay about 300+ feet if not more than the other truck ahead of me.
no beeps no problems.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
I refuse to drive Mack’s and the ON GUARD system is one more reason. New hires get the brand new Mack Anthems.

On a practical level it disables the cruise control when you do that.
On a legal level we're you to be involved in an accident you increase your civil liability exposure for having "tampered with a safety device". You might have to prove that the device had no impact on the accident. -
Anyone that still uses this old system if it malfunctions your cruise will no longer work. You can override it by turning the cruise on and off quickly 3 times. Then it will work again without OG. My old company told me to do that in the POS 2014 Crapcadia they put me in when I first started with them. It worked like a charm. Those darn annoying pieces of tin foil that kept getting caught up on the thing just kept causing issues that I overrode with the cruise override.KB3MMX Thanks this.

This is just ANOTHER reason in a very long string of reasons to NEVER to buy a new truck!!

The system the OP is talking about is in a 2014. This thread is 7 years old. They have vastly improved this system in 7 years. The one I have on my LT has never locked onto anything other than cars that could have killed me.

I completely disagree, the last truck I drove that had the system was a 2020 and it would slam on the brakes heading up to bridges and also if the sun reflected off of signs to much or any kind of reflection, it is a danger to drivers, considering I live in a very cold climate and spent most of my winter driving through blowing snow and icy conditions and didn't appreciate the truck locking up the brakes at every chance it gotKB3MMX Thanks this.

Not trying to disable onguard. Just piece that beeps. Not sure if it's behind console or not. Any ideas?
KB3MMX Thanks this. -
