How to exempt yourself from driving through certain states?

Just to help stay off topic:

He posted asking for advice without giving all the details. It's like going to the doctor and asking for a cure but not telling him all the symptoms.

It's clear that the OP does not want to pass thru these states. Whatever the reason.
But I do know a successful surefire way of having any employer gladly meet the request of not going to those states, with no negative effects in any way.

Unfortunately tho,, I also have a undisclosed reason for never providing answers to any usernames that begin with:

C

E

H

K

S

and Y.

Sorry OP, but just noticed yours begins with C.
Trust me, I do have valid reasons for not disclosing answers to users who begin their usernames with one of those letters,
and certainly you being you, can understand that my reason for it, is personal/private and not pertinent.

 

Some have gave him -her legitimate answers --but come on, OTR or wannabee --newbie trucker who i assume hasn't even driven 1 mile for a company yet, wants to know how to "EXEMPT" himself, herself from certain states -- your a trucker DsquareD -are going to start telling your employer where you are going to not go and i dont mean a particular shipper/ receiver -poster listed like 20 states.


OK you may have a point and maybe poster didnt type it out using the right words.
My legitimate answer to O/P is look for a company that only does intrastate or like south east states and verify that with the company --but i dont even know if that would work -i would have to read his -her list again.

 

That's what we are trying to do is get him to realize he needs to deal with those states like or not.No company will cater to his needs.True its none of our business what his reason is but we could better understand his situation.He has quite a list there which most of us find odd,he wants to drive trk but wont enter those states not even with someone else driving.Good grief sometimes you have to go thru those states.This op better find another line of work like ppl greeter at walmart or dishwasher.Certainly not trk driver.

 

Also, if he told us might be able to help him better explain it to potential employers.

 

Oh, I agree with you, and the OP is a bit unrealistic, but some of the replies to his post are a bit out there. Me, I hate Illinois, for one, but try getting to many of our customers without going through it. Not gonna happen. Other states, like the NE and Kalifornia, I just refuse to take loads that go there, but my situation is much different than the OP's, since I have experience and own the truck and can make my own choices. As an up-and-coming driver, the OP is going to be pretty much out of luck in the OTR biz with the stipulations he's stated. At the very least, it limits his available options.
