I received a couple grants back in the 90's. One from employment office in Orlando, FL. , it was called Workforce grant. I attended Road master school. I drove for 6 months then quit.
5 years later I received a grant from a social services agency that dealt with transients. I took 2 weeks of classes and they paid for any type technical training. I went to Mid Florida tech trucking program in Orlando. Been driving 11 years this time.

If you are homeless, wouldn't company-sponsored training be better than getting a grant that covers only the cost of school?

With company-sponsored training, you would get a place to stay.

I would take company-sponsored training and a place to stay over a grant-and-still-homeless.

Just going off your own words, you stated you didn't want to pay it back. Working for low pay is more respectable than no pay. Comes off like you feel you're to good to work for lower pay. Job at McDonald's is better than no job.

Go to the unemployment office and they have the paperwork for the grant.
By the way, what's wrong with paying back a loan from a trucking company for training? They provide lodging, meals, and a cdl plus a job and all they want is a little return on their investment in you.
