There are several credit reporting agencies. There is also the Gold Book. Most brokers will supply you with credit references. It may take a little time but is a good idea to call them and check to see how they pay. Don't be shy about calling their bank. You can also sell the receivables to a factor and see how long it takes for them to pay the factor. If they pay well, you could either continue to factor or wait on your money.
How to get direct shippers, cutting out the (Thieves, this is my opinion), brokers

Biggest issue with credit ratings and days-to-pay on brokers is that most of that data is provided by factoring companies. So a broker that is working the system will pay factoring companies quick because they understand this. I was against factoring but when you figure the cost of credit service, collection and then get fuel discount. I can factor $4-5K a month and come out ahead. And that $4-5k are the unkown or slow pay to carriers. Just started so we will see if this makes my life easier.

i'm just saying what our commpany registrations say. 49 states is what's listed. dc being one of them. i didn't buy the plates. i'm just stating.
now if that's not that the case. well, that's not my problem.
who knows. maybe dc is a seperate registration from the rest of the state. i just have 49 listed. and hawaii and alaska aren't on there.
took me awhile to figure who #49 was. the company had to get net dot number due to change in ownership. the previous owner was originally getting out and sold the business. but then i guess decided to go back in so they bought 4 trucks. and started there own fleet again. -
What were your persuation tactics/methods you used when you were trying to obtain a Shipper direct? What were some of the perks you offered to grab their attention?
Phone call or Show up in person?
Contract or let the shipper try your services and then decide if they would like to sign a contract?
I really do think I'm starting to "GET IT"..... The more research I do the more I am understanding how to get ahead and stay ahead!!!!
