Run at the engine's rpm sweet spot. Usually 1300 rpm or 62 mph.

Progressive shift. Add just enough power to get to next gear.

    Don't idle. Idling = 0 mpg.

    Keep tires at proper psi.

Balance the load between drives and tandems. A little heavier on the steers to allow for fuel burnoff.

Run north-south vs east-west. Less headwinds.

Run on the flat. Avoid mountains.

    Run on brushed concrete roads.

He ended up going with Bruenger. He had a lot of options, but we just weighed the pros and the cons and this seemed to be the best fit for him at this time. :) Only 1 week on the road so far, so too early to tell whether we made the best choice or not.

Thanks for all the replies so far. He's basically looking more for what he can get for the truck to help. One question he has is with a free flow muffler. He read that you can't do that with a dpf, though. He's sleeping now, so I can't really ask him what else he wanted to know about, lol. He's been driving for 11 years, but always company, so he didn't think anything of it before.

You would be surprised at how many people don't do the obvious.

I use cruise all the time as a matter of convenience. I don't pay the fuel bill at the moment, but I'm also notoriously light-footed on gas and brakes.
