Being able to drive a standard manual transmission is definitely a good skill to have, but it’s also becoming increasingly irrelevant. The company I drive for had mostly manual transmission trucks when I started with them six years ago, now it’s mostly automatic transmissions. Practically all new trucks have automatics.

now don’t laugh, but I learned on a pre-1935 ford, model a.
You can still find the transmission for them all over the place and still by new parts for it and the rest of the car -
