Being off to me used to be as busy as work time is.
The past month when I'm off and have set my mind to that goal.
I no longer even open the load boards to whats going on, cause I'm off and don't care. I used to open the load boards to see if that great paying load was there and would wind up wasting a good off day for what?
WORK. So now when I'm off it's off I am.
I feel lots more reated to when I leave out.

I'm a couple years out before I can get there. However, we did just hire another person that looks like may be able to pick-up the slack and allow us to take some time off.

There is nothing worse than being on a great vacation, say like in a condo in Colorado, ready to go skiing that morning....

after you find some loads for your trucks.:biggrin_25516:

Heck, I figured out how to make being ON DUTY enjoyable..... Once you book a load, don't look back. I've found that looking at the loads available AFTER you have booked a run will just haunt you and make you depressed.

As for time off, I just spend it with my fiancé and family. The truck sits parked and I leave it be. If it is needing something fixed, I tend to give it a few hour window and that's it.

I use to spend all 3 days off working on the truck and making things shinny.

Ain't that the frikken truth you see all the other stuff you could have done after you're already booked. I'm actually under strict standing orders no smart phone allowed, don't even think about carrying it lol... ..when we go out on the weekends. I'm awful - always checking freight..

Well, I figured out something not to do on time off, and that is answer the phone on Friday afternoon at 6pm while in your pickup truck. It was an agent I've never dealt with, but had a load that couldn't wait to get to Boston, and priced like he was looking for a truck on Friday night. Cancelled plans with the family for the weekend and delivered late afternoon Sunday.
