Ideally I will drive 7 hours before I take my break. It makes it go faster. I dont like taking my 30 at the 4 1/2 hours mark.
Also if schedule permits, take an hour break, not just a half hour. My breaks average probably 45 minutes when I am driving my full clock. As long as I am not in anyones way. My lunches are at like 2AM so not much parking most of the time. I kind of just have to sneak in somewhere.TripleSix, Canadianhauler21 and Redtwin Thank this. -
That's a much safer option than exiting at a rest area and finding it so jammed up that the only way out is to reverse back up the entrance road and onto the highway shoulder keeping your eyes peeled for anyone behind you exiting.
Yes, that really happened to me in KY.Canadianhauler21 and TravR1 Thank this. -
At those hours TA and Petro are usually pretty good. Not at busy as Loves overnight and there's twice as many pumps.
I'm still mad about the Flying J I stopped at west of Odessa off I20. The way out was blocked. We all had to back up and exit out through the fuel lanes the wrong way. LolRedtwin and Canadianhauler21 Thank this. -
Health food stores have something called Fit. Made by Garden of Life. Has everything in it. A good seat does wonders too.

I do push ups as part of my PTI. I've found it helps keep me calm in the face of BS and helps keep my energy up.
Also, I do not eat until I shut down for the night. That's right. I only eat after my 12-14 hours. Takes a week to get used to but once you do you'll have energy all day.88228822, tommymonza and Redtwin Thank this. -
I also follow the no eating until end of the shift. I don't count a protein shake in the morning as "food".
MACK E-6, tommymonza and Doing_flatbed_nc Thank this. -

Stupid Western Star feature.
I got so desperate I shimmed up the front of it to get some recline to get me through the week.
Told the shop I was going to go pickup a new Legacy seat to install and if they had a problem with it.
They said no problem but if you want one we will buy you one.
Cheap cloth version Legacy but a 100 times better than a worn out factory seat.
I used to own a shoe store.
I used to preach to people that the 2 most important things you need in life is a good mattress and good shoes.
I knew nothing about semi s than
90% of the seats out there in trucks are Shot for giving support
I bought my 1997 International Eagle with a million 175 on it and the original driver seat was still there and appeared intact until you sat in it.
Buy a new Frikin seat. Best investment other than a mattress and Engel cooler.Brettj3876, farmerjohn64, Speed_Drums and 1 other person Thank this.
