The only time I have wakefulness issues when driving is when I get three hours sleep or less.
I carry 5-hour energies in the truck for those days. I also have satellite radio, audiobooks, and the Pandora music app.
If you are having wakefulness issues that resolve easily simply by getting out of the truck and walking around, you need something to help keep your mind active. Driving can be horribly monotonous, but it doesn't have to be. Create a car-watching game in your head that will keep you aware of what is happening around you while exercising your mind.
If you are having wakefulness issues that persist after a little physical activity, then get tested for sleep apnea. You might not be getting proper rest. Sleep apnea isn't just for fat people. It's a lot less prevalent than trucking companies and predatory sleep study doctors pretend it is, but it is a real issue, and it's not rare.
One thing that you shouldn't do is try to deal with important matters while driving. Sure, dealing with important issues can keep you awake, but the stuff you are doing to keep your mind busy should not be so important that you lose track of what is happening on the road around you.
How to not be tired after long trips?

Was doing fine before I tried to walk through a 5’11” doorway in my buddies basement last year and wedge underneath it like a Swift van under a train trestle.
There is a neck specialist up in Michigan I saw 2 years ago but no insurance and was looking at $10,000 to get started with adjustments and therapy.
I love a good chiropractor unfortunately mine down in Florida retired.
Hate to just go to anybody.
Neck pain comes and goes . I figure I’ll just hang on to build my threshold for pain so I can endure old age.TripleSix and farmerjohn64 Thank this. -

I built a big deck for these Swiss people about 10 years ago on the beach.
A couple years latter that area got hit by a hurricane with some flooding.
The plumbing for the outdoor faucets was connected and ran under that deck.
Well it needed repair so I was working under it for the first time in a year.
I stood up fast before getting out from underneath it not realizing that it was no longer standing headroom underneath it since the hurricane brought fill sand in.
I think I literally went from 6 foot to 5’11” and a1/2 in that incident.Farmerbob1, Canadianhauler21, Razorwyr and 1 other person Thank this. -
Screw driving 11 everyday. Plenty of local opportunities to make the same if not more. I've gotten used to my 350mi days going to Jersey and back.
A good seat makes a huge difference. I like the legacy silver, fits me good and my ### isn't sore from long days.MACK E-6, Farmerbob1, Canadianhauler21 and 2 others Thank this. -
