I liked the white when I saw it.....I'm not a big chrome guy at all... I like the stainless steel or aluminum look. But a new S/S bumper was like $699! - so I opted with the chrome for that....but my mud flaps on the front are like fossilized in place....

I built my own bumper for $100.00. I wanted a 12" gull wing and a local chrome shop quoted $240.00... not bad. But the freight was $150.00... #### rich, over priced truckers!!!
I had my local machine shop shear a piece of 10 gauge to my specs and bend the top at a 90.... they i welded the ends and lower flanges to it and finished it off with four coats of rustoleum.
I see guys walk past my Pete and scratch their heads when they look at the bumper... i like it.
I ditched the stock headlights, too. Bought a pair of REAL '51 Pete headlights and brackets off fleabay for $90.00 (no Chinese knock-offs for me)... saved the headlights for a hot rod project and put a set on NOS 1940's vintage Arrow headlights on the Pete brackets... looks kinda weird and ugly... like the owner! -
I like the taper on the bumper ....its old school and looks RIGHT..

PS. That truck in your sig looks drunk.. -
Here's why I needed a new bumper...

KW carries the bolt 'kit' for the front mudflaps. 3 complete bolts $17 for each side.
-
go to home depot or lowes and get the stuff cheaper.
-
I got the bolts from KW....but be dammed if I can get these OLD ones off. I think an angle grinder or something attached to my DeWalt drill might work. Just not sure and I dont want to spend the $ on a grinder. No matter what I have tried to use to hold the outer crown of the bolt, it slips out. Last time I put a piece of flat stock in there and used a vise grips. It bent the dam flat stock...my prior idea was a pry bar but that slipped out and I nicked my fender....
-
you get some salt and road tar in there and it is like cement on those bolts---can get a little grinder pretty cheap at harbour frieght---it would come in handy for stuff on the truck---or a rotozip works great00just put a cutoff wheel in it
-
They are installed. What a pain...the bolt fought me with the grinder to the very end. I can still smell hot metal...yuk.
