    Hey fellow Carhaulers!
Any chance, someone knows how to replace QuiXspinz on Cottrell?
2 ratchets dead on 9th position, but I got “tarp” trailer, so my first 2 ratchets on 7th position never used, want to use them as a replacement.
It looks like “stop ring” just welled to the inner part of the shaft..
    Thanks!

You pretty much have to replace the entire ratchet box. Unless things have changed that's the only way Cottrell sells those parts. It's a really ####ty design, the ratchet heads actually just bolt onto the tube, but once they pinch the tube for the strap anchors, you can no longer access the back side.

    Gorzo Thanks this.

My independent shop replaced some ratchet boxes for me a few years ago. My quick spins were not bad just the boxes were. I can’t give you exact details because I didn’t watch the entire process, but they cut them out with a torch (I think the stop ring you referenced) and welded them back in to the new boxes they built.

They can be cut out. Cut that inner ring off. Cut the idler that holds the strap and you can pull the whole tube out.. or you can just ordered the new modular style and put it in

    Banker and Gorzo Thank this.
