we are the dumbest country in the world. it's been tested we have the dumbest kids.
most times even the simplest solutions are hard for this country to comprehend.

This is a pretty clear indication that sleeping in the back of a moving semi ain't a good idea. It astounds me that there are people willing to do it.
My opinion on teaming aside...... maybe getting one of those super fancy mattresses like the one from the commercial where the guy is jumping up and down on the bed and the wine doesn't spill would help a little bit?Tb0n3 Thanks this. -
I don't think the walls of these flimsy trucks would hold up. Maybe with some reinforcement on the outside but the behemoth drivers they are growing nowadays will tear out the eyebolts!
Good idea though, just needs a support framework. -
I'll say this for my most recent experience as a team driver, while solo drivers for my company have had to wait for loads there seems to be a fairly steady demand for teams to take hot loads during this slow time of year. Let's face it, team driving is a large segment of the industry driven by demand for faster deliveries. Therefore it would be a good idea to find a solution for creating a better sleeping situation for the driver in the berth.

I've looked at the walls of our Kenworth T2000, and it seems that we would need to add some kind of support brackets inside the bunk area. This in turn would mean that we would need to alter the way the bunks could function when we want them, as the brackets would likely interfere with how they can be folded. The top bunk would need to be turned up and locked in order to use the hammock.
I'm still noodling the concept and hope to purchase an off the shelf hammock to start experimenting the next time we are back at home base. I'll keep you all posted. -
No offense dude, but your company sucks.
You know, I don't see why you van guys do it. You get plowed by lumpers and grocery warehouses, forced into a truck with another guy, run nearly twice the miles of a solo but don't make nowhere near twice the money. And you're trapped in a truck with another man, smelling his feet and nuts talking about 'the industry.' Only you guys get porked this much and you get online trying to come up with solutions to help you deal with getting porked. Car haulers don't do it. Hoppers don't, cattle barons don't, tankers don't, skaters don't, only you box drivers. Now, if getting porked is your thing (not you personally, but YOU in general) and you're happy with your "arrangement", then have at it. But don't think for a moment that's the norm. It's not.mpd240 Thanks this. -
As a team driver I came in here for a solution to the rearranging of my organs while I'm trying to sleep. Maybe if the states would maintain their roads it wouldn't be so bad I know that isn't happening. But I thought a hammock across the bottom bunk would be a great idea. Now imI not so sure. DOT can kiss my.. I honestly don't care if I get a ticket for trying to get good sleep. It's all insane anyway. I have @ 3 1/2 months to go to finish off my contract so any ideas would be awesome. I weigh @ 200lbs. Maybe less. Losing weight out here cause the food generally sucks. I was also thinking about making a hammock out of a bed sheet like my brothers and I did when we were kids. Bunk beds were kinda fun
Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Sounds horrible.
