I was a little fretful the first time I was saddled with a 13 speed. It only took about a half hour to get the hang of it. I just watch the tach. And eventually, just by the feel of the RPM can determine which range to be in. I enjoy it now. The other posters here have good suggestions on videos and literature to read.
How to shift 18 speed? When And how do you Drive it as A 18 speed, 13 speed and 9 speed

This is an old school one for the 13 speed.
speedyk, Kyle G. and Brettj3876 Thank this. -
Split shift isn't that hard. Bring the tach up to the shift RPM, split up, let off the throttle. Once the tach falls and you hear it catch the next gear, ease into the fuel again. When you need to shift the main box when in high split, just before you move the stick to the next position, knock the splitter back to low and make your upshift. You'll need to be approximately twice as quick as shifting without the splitter since you're shifting half a gear.

Once you get used to it you'll never want to drive a 10 speed again. I hate 10 speeds I'd rather have a 9.
When splitting you pretty much more the stick as quick as possible or you'll catch it too late.
@SmallPackage cool vid on the old school 13. We're one of the few still running a .62 od. Imagine how fast a new driver would tear one up trying to split it like a new RTLOSpeed_Drums and meechyaboy Thank this. -
