Youre not getting it. All I was saying is that on a 13 or 18 speed the splitter is separate from the range selector. Different gears, etc. they are not all housed in a 3 speed aux.
A super ten is similar to a 10 speed road ranger, they just are operated differently. With different gear ratios.
How to shift a 5 and 4

it is just different ways of looking at it. The reason I refered to the 5x4 is, if the rear box is called a 4 speed, the overdrive is considered one of the speeds. So why wouldnt the overdrive in the aux section of a 13 also be refered to as one of the speeds making it a 3 speed. Just a difference in the way I view it from the way you view it. We both know how they work though
As for the super 10, there is two less gears (and I mean if you took the top off and looked in it two gears are missing. 3rd and 4th).There are only 2 shifter forks in the front section where a straight 10 has 3. You have a first and second gear and then the sliding clutch that connects the input to the mainshaft giving you the 3rd gear position. When you shift it into 4th you are using the second speed gear again but in hi range in the aux. Then when you go into 5th you are using the 3rd speed (direct) again in high range. Of course all 5 positions are split with the spliter in the rear section. I just threw the comment in about the super 10 just to see if you had ever been inside one before. -
are you sure the mail box flag was not the low air flag

The thing is a "WigWag" and it was a low air pressure warning indicator. After the engine built up sixty or more psi of air the wigwag would reset. The "Wigwag" never indicated engine or trans temp. I drove trucks where the gear oil was SAE 140 and the oil had to heat up in order for the transmission to shift freely. the procedure was slip the main into 4th or 5th gear and the aux into neutral. let the engine idle turning the transmission for about 10 minutes. The truck was then road ready.

A 5X4 is a twin stick with 5 gears on the main and 4 gears in the Aux. Always shift the main first and keep your arm out of the steering wheel. BTW they are very strong trans, the Navy Seabees had them for years all the way up to the 90's then I retired. They were great if you could shift them. Whatever you do, don't miss a gear going up a hill.

The box to be upshifted is shifted first.

This sounds a lot like setting up button configurations on my xbox controller.
