Hello guys and girls, I'm new to this website, new to the business, basically new to everything. I really need help, ideas, thoughts anything that will help me out. Not sure if I'm posting this thread in the right category. Here is my situation; i don't own any trucks, I'm saving up to buy one. But I'm in control of around 7-8 trucks. I was told that all i need to do is find the jobs ( I know not as easy as it sounds). The owner of the trucks don't really speak good if any English, so they stuck within the same companies they been working for years. Once i heard all that i knew here is my chance to make money to buy my own truck. I don't want to drive i just want to call companies and get the jobs and spread it out to all the trucks. I been told that she picks up dirt, rocks, snow and all that i will get the name of each truck. But first i want to know what I'm doing. I want to know if i have to start my own company (LLC), i need to know if they pay for each trip or hourly rate, i know i don't need insurance on the trucks because they are the one that going to be maintaining the trucks. There is alot i need to learn. I will learn anything i need too, but like i said before I'm asking for someone to point out witch direction to start.
Thank you so much, & sorry if the thread does not go here. Hope to hear from you guys soon!

It sounds like you want to start a dispatch service. The problem you have is that you don't know anything about this business. It would help you to learn something about trucking if you would first get your CDL and find a company that will put you in a truck as a company driver for a year or two, especially if you want to buy your own truck. Starting a business that you have no experience or knowledge is a good way to lose your shirt. I am glad to see you doing some research before making the plunge.

Seems like a lot of ppl wanna jump right in and expect to find answers from other people without experiencing it for themselves first hand.HDFatboy and rollin coal Thank this.

Nothing wrong with trying to pick the brains of people who have actually done something to avoid common mistakes than jump into something blind. What? You never speak to any drivers of a company you are thinking of hiring onto?Rockin&Rollin Thanks this.

I don't walk into Olive Garden, never having worked in the restaurant industry, and ask the owner all the ins and outs of his business so I could open one down the street.

Why not? If you want to learn how to do something ask people that have been successful in doing it. In fact, here is a nice place to start: http://www.score.org/

snowman01 Thanks this.
