    In my era during Southeast Asia conflict there was MPC - Military Pay Certificate which was legal tender, but had an expiration date. Lots of expired MPC's floating around the Orient. Could buy them for maybe $20.00 USD for $200.00 MPC's.
    Yeah, I bought plenty of them while on R&R in Singapore and spent them partying and so-forth in other Asian R&R ports.

    I remember when they would announce a new series of MPC and the Mamasan's would try to get us to take their MPC's to convert for a percentage cut.
