Sounds like a tall tale. I bet the next time he checks his bank account. There's nothing in there.

Sailors lie as much as truck drivers. I'm just saying that without proper legal action the wife could easily sue for at least some of the money under abandonment.

I didn't ask him about all that. His story is plausible. I also met a former Marine in Sint Maarten that was working in a surfboard store. He saw my military tattoos and started a conversation with me. He was suffering from PTSD due to serving in Vietnam. Real nice guy. As soon as he was discharged he made his way to Sint Maarten with very little money. The owner of the surfboard store liked him and gave him a job and let him live in the backroom of the store. Can meet lots of nice people with life stories that made them leave the states and find calm and peace. I met lots of interesting people from the USA that found refuge in other countries, from whatever was bothering them. It takes courage to do things like that. Leaving all the stress and troubles behind; living on a sailboat, etc.

The Apache woman from Arizona; left on a trip by herself and ended up owning a small hostel in Tibet and never returned to the USA.

My neighbors son went to Argentina and liked it so much, he stayed for 20 years. He told me he was surprised because the culture is the same and the people "look like me" he said. He's blonde and many blondes in Argentina. He married a woman with long black hair though.

I think we all know why there are so many German blondes in Argentina.

Not much she can do; he left the USA and living at sea on a sailboat. I didn't ask questions about his money, but he had that covered by what little he did say. He won't be extradited for dumping his unfaithful wife.
