hi giggles
Giggles the Original Thanks this. -
Yup, we all plan trips in our own way.
The most important thing is to be on time for delivery, even if that means sending a late call and getting it rescheduled.
With my current load I knew I would run into bad weather, going through NW Indiana.
As soon as things started getting bad I pulled over and sent a late call.
I knew about the weather because I listen to the weather channel on my radio for local conditions, and I check the NOAA site for my intended route. -
Yup another trip through Indiana, he's in OH for the night. Heading toward Fort Wayne, and then across the cowtrail route 30 to 65 and up to IL. I hope they have the roads cleaned off some by tomorrow night. The lake affect snows can dump a lot at one time, 16-18 in some areas this afternoon, plow crews are getting a workout. -
this link did not work

A link for IN, click on Northwest picture and it will pull up a map and the webcams for the the areas. Looks like roads are covered in snow, but not wall to wall trucks and traffic tonight.

I live in Warsaw In, right on US 30.
Here's a tip, rather than taking US 30 all the way to I65, When you get to the Pilot in Valpariso, go through the next light and take SR 49 north. It's 9 miles to 80 / 90, with only 1 light, and 13 miles to I 94. A lot faster than all the lights between there and 65. You hit 94 just west of the coop on 94. -
Kingston , ON (PU outbound freight) to Harrisburg, PA (deliver outbound freight) to Dover, DE (PU O/S load) to Kingston, ON (deliver O/S load)
STEP 1:Enter Kingston, Harrisburg, Dover and Kingston into Streets and Trips on my Laptop and see what route it gives me.
STEP 2: Modify the route per my liking
STEP 3: Check my selected route against the Rand McNally Motor carrier Atlas to see if there are ant restrictions. Modify route as required.
STEP 5: If it is a new PU or DEL, use Google street view to confirm the "last mile".
STEP 6: Call customer to confirm your ETA, to ask if you can park over night and use that opportunity to get some local knowledge on directions (construction info for example).
STEP 7: From the load confirmation, complete O/S load application including dimensions of load, dates of travel, VIN numbers, inter axle dimensions, route etc.
