Roberto.....they lock you in to a lease to own....you work your ### off to pay for their equipment... when its old you keep it and pay for the upcoming repairs. don't rush into this....they didnt become one of the biggest players by playing fair. Lease to own is like a hostage taking.

very good point...Thanks for the advice bud

Hi trying to get into trucking, does anyone know of any companies in Canada like Swift that will train you and allow you work to pay off the training? Or does anyone know if Swift will train Canadians.
-
I hope I can find someone like you when I've completed my CDL training and finally get out there and start driving.
There seems to be a lot of negativity out there as far as who to work for etc. I'm hoping it isn't that hard to find a half decent position with little to no experience under your belt.
I'm willing to work out of Vancouver or Calgary right off the bat if need be. My wife and I have relocated many times and this isn't even an issue for us. -
If you have a hard time finding work in either of those areas, I would suggest Saskatchewan. Easier to find a decent person to work for. Farmers are always looking for drivers in the Spring, or drive Anhydrous Ammonia in the Spring, Anhydrous drivers are usually in demand because the season only lasts a month or so, but a good way to get something driving related on your resume.

Has anyone taken Valley Driving School out in BC? Good or bad experiences with them? Does the place you're trained affect in any way your ability to get hired? Sorry for the 20 questions...
-
I used Valley they were good to me, learned what I needed to start out. I went out the Coquitlam office. -
Try Sanjel or Trican. Its tiring heavy work - Try both those companies out of Lloydminster. Its oilfield related work.
-
Yes. If you are light on experience, the oilfield service outfits - Trican, Sanjel, Slumberger usually travel in convoys to the job in BC, complete with a truck push who tells you where and when to chain up, arranges tow cats etc.
Its a hard, dirty job but you will gain experience you can't buy or do on your own. -
I took valley out in langley. The training was very good imo and its a decent price.
