I am a company driver currently, 2 years under my belt no accidents no tickets ever till now, but few months ago I got a super speeder in my personal car (63 in 35) bad I know, but I was in an area idk and the sign was covered by trees which the judge didn't care what I had to say because the cop that ticketed me was a 15 year captain or something and well respected in the little town. Anyways.

I was trying to go owner op next year, been saving and am ready. How will this affect me you guys think? Insurance? Leasing on to a company? Etc.

    Thanks in advance

Did you pay ticket or get reduced to lesser charge?. If not but that will be a reckless driving on CDL and may not be insurable. Really quite surprised your still driving a commercial vehicle

What did your attorney (who also should have been very well respected and from that same little town) say?

In my state I get 2 offenses before disqualified luckily. I told my company about it and they said same basically. 1 more and I'm out. But really I'm an excellent driver, this is just bad luck as I didn't know the city and since it was so small and rural I didn't even realize I was in a city thought it was still 65mph. And the cop was parked perfectly. Hidden and radar pointed not 10 feet after the tree covered sign :/

My broke ### didn't have an attorney I was hoping the sign being covered (with pics) would help me a little. Judge showed no mercy made me pay in full stuck whole thing on my record as speeding 63 in 35.

Ouch! Well your paying for it and receiving well earned experience. Small town legal systems are a rigged game- ALWAYS. How you counter it is get an attorney who serves on the town or city council or county commissioners office. You have to get your own local good ol boy. He will wack you out of a few hundred to five hundred. He will make one call maybe two and the problem goes away. It is the price for playing in their game.

Since you still have a job you really need to stay there until this drops off your record. Not many places would even look at you with a speeding ticket nearly 30 over the limit.

77 in a 40 is my most flagrant offense. Cost me 24 bucks back in 1987.
    Good luck on future endeavors

You don't think my 2 years OTR and flawless reference would help someone let me lease on if I went o/o?

It’s not up to the company, it’s up to their insurance company. There’s no difference between a car and commercial vehicle as far as tickets are concerned.
