I got a load, information I got said pickup is 1030-1500, delivery 250ish miles away at 2359 the same day. Live load and unload.
Oh no confusion, that was my plan. Maybe I should ask what time you'd show up to pickup? 10 finished about 0300. Was parked 50ish miles away, but had to deal with Atlanta.
I'd pick that up as early as I could, then roll to the receiver. I'd call the receiver as well and see about parking or early delivery on arrival. If they can offload when I arrive great, if not bunk time.
On the face if it, I would agree with you. But it all depends on the pay. If percentage short runs usually pay away better than long ones. So that 250ish miles. Might pay better than a 500 mile run
23:59 - 10 = 14 Better not be any hold up anywhere. Yes, only say 4.5 hrs driving, but held up at the shipper or a massive 75 car pile up 1/4 mile in front of you will screw your 14.
I don't care about the pay, it is the hours. Both the 14 hour limit and the hours I would be awake trying to complete that load safely. I think some of the people scheduling these loads are real head cases.
If 1030-1500 is the window time on the pickup, and I am starting my day with it, and there is a possibility of an additional load after delivery, I'd try to pick up as close to 1500 as I can get away with (depending on expected traffic conditions on the way to delivery) to keep a few hours available afterward (both to get some progress toward the next pickup, and to avoid having to search for parking at midnight).
