    Guy was passing me and lost his tandems. Luckily everyone was ok and only cosmetic damage to my truck.

    Easy, he slid his tandems recently and failed to check they were actually locked.

    One way to mitigate the potential for this type of thing is to have a routine for each process that you follow in the same way, every time; pre/post inspection, drop and hook, fueling, sliding tandems, etc. Then, when you get distracted--and you will; phone call, interruption, nearby commotion--go back three steps in your routine/checklist and then carry on.

    It will be ok, I dont need to do the pretrip. They wont go anywhere if I step on the brakes

    His trailer wheels were not locked. He was loaded and when he braked they slid back and kept on going......

    Yep. I've been lucky twice.
    Both times someone else pulled my tandems, but both times my fault for not checking.
    A simple tug test or visual would have done.
    That was a few years ago
