I am a professional Military member as well as a CAT/Cummins certified mechanic. I love working on engines and spent twenty years between both engines. My last was CATS and I am impartial to them. I decded to give the best I had to give to the Army. I kept upto date with CATS even while I was doing Army business. It is my love and at my age has also broken me down.
I know CATS inside and out and can assist with almost any question and would be glad to give sound advice. I am a Military maintenance manager and now work on anything the Army has to include the new CATS.![]()

Dave: In my experience with both Cummins and CATS the greatest power robber is valve adjustment. I have had engines that we retorqued to a higher torque and that did nothing for it. The valve adjustment was the last resort and fixed it. I have seen 550 CATS during camshaft relacement act a 350. All I had to do was readjust the valves especially exhaust and add 30 hp on pulldown power as referenced by dyno. I am a firm believer that if adjusted correctly it will do what it is designed to do. I don't know if I am compitetion but I do know my engines.
