I'm new to the forum and looking for pointers on buying my own equipment to become an O/O. I've driven for a local hot shot operation for 6.5 years and looking to find a sound used truck from a reputable dealer and what I should be doing after that. I'm a flatbed guy and need any helpful information to make a go of this.
Howdy!!!

Yeah, it's a big decision. I've set back $20k for incidentals and have about $50k to play with for a truck, authority, insurance, plates, etc. I only made the decision after looking into about 10 different lease purchase programs with various carriers...all of which would have left me starving on the road far away from home. I don't want to get the super shiny truck with a million lights and accessories. I just want a good rig with a solid service history to make a living. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy and that's why I'm asking for help. I don't know if I should work the load boards or find a broker...any help is appreciated!!! Thx

I would suggest you look for a used Int'l VS a Pete/KW/Freightshaker. Reason being, less $$$. And just as good a truck IMO. After you're established and rolling in the bucks, you can go chrome.
