Old OD barn laid off 2 drivers last week and a newer dock worker. About 5 line bids got put to sleep when they were rebidding. Those guys either sit home, bag out, or run wild.
Heard from old coworkers more layoffs are coming this winter. Glad I jumped ship. Job market is horrific right now. Never thought I'd work for a place that stole a few hundred bucks out of each paycheck but it's this or no jerb at all. Or back to starving to death OTR for 40k/yr and coming home once every few months.

Just curious if anyone in this thread would recommend Saia? They have linehaul run open in my area paying .084 CPM. Triples are paying .089
CPM. I’ve heard they are very strict with cameras and micromanaging, but never talked to anyone that’s worked there. -
My experience with SAIA is pretty aged at this point from 2022 or so, but when I worked there, I enjoyed running linehaul. The only reason I really moved on from SAIA was their outbound management at Newburgh (NWB) pretty much peaked in highschool, so my nights with a realatively early cut time usually spilled over into 4-5am to return back to eastern MA. The last night I worked there, the outbound sup refused to close my trailers for 4 straight hours. even though it was full.Rugerfan Thanks this.

Hey man, outbound management set the record at Polk High for scoring 4 touchdowns in a single game in the 1966 city championship. You better show some respect.hotrod1653, Lumper Humper, High Stepper and 3 others Thank this.

How were the cameras to deal with? I’ve heard horror stories of them. Currently have a camera staring at me all day, but as long as I don’t grab my phone, no one says anythinghope not dumb twucker Thanks this.

I didn't have any issues with them, if you don't drive like a knuckle-head, you're probably not on the Safety Dept's radar.hope not dumb twucker and Rugerfan Thank this.

linehaul would not be the same around here during the day (great lakes). traffic sucks and it takes much longer to get around. the hourly rate goes down and the stress level goes up.
with that being said, id still take a daytime linehaul run. we only have 1 here, its 640 miles and typically leaves around 7 am. guys be fighting for that.Cardfan89, Lumper Humper, Rugerfan and 1 other person Thank this. -
7am start time to clear 640 miles? In a place where it snows? Sounds awful.
When I ran line we had some runs that were 600 miles around/through Western MT. Doing that in a single 11hr clock was miserable. Especially if you had to chain up 4 times in Idaho or twice going over homestake. Or when you got stuck for 50 miles behind a salt shaker going 30mph. Or when Snoqualmie had a white volvo spin out and shutdown the interstate for hours. Or when someone would wreck around flathead lake and block the road for hours on end.road_runner and Lumper Humper Thank this. -
i agree.
hell i don't even bid anything near that long at night. i have enough 14+ hr days during winter anyway. i swear every interstate out of indy is gridlocked at the first sight of a snowflake.
