I even left seattle for philadelphia with a team and delivered 3 hours behind them and they ran 75 and 80 mph in the 75 mph states. Steady is the key.

if I'm loaded over 35k, I will keep it at around 68-70. if I'm light, I'll stretch her legs a bit. I don't go over 75 since that's the speed rating of most truck tires.

I have to say it feels great being able to do 70, my cruise will top out at 69, if I put my foot to it I can do 73 so when I need to pass someone going 68 its not a problem. Now I also run west where the speed limits are 70-75 except when I hit OR or CA and have to drop to 55.....it sometimes feels like I will never get to where I am going.
    Oh, I get 6.9 mpg doing 69

I run the speed limit in a truck that was not spec'd for fuel mileage. I also pay for my own fuel. If it ever gets to the point where I have to become an obstruction on the roadway just to make ends meet, it's time to hang up the keys and do something else.

i just put the cruise on 62/3 an sit back--still end up passing a lot of trucks on the hills --nice to have the power--but yes sometimes a person has to flatten the right pedal on a hot load---then find out they dont even really want the product

I used to have a big kitty. I got a lot of speeding tickets with it. It seems more stressful with a fast truck because someone is always in your way. I run 600 miles a day in a slow truck and probably get there quicker than most Billy big riggers because I seldom stop

I wouldn't know, my truck is gov'd at 76 mph, my cruise is gov'd at 76 mph. If the speed limit is 75, I'm doing 75. If the speed limit is 65 and I can get away with 68 or 69, that's what I'm doing. I have a customer in Kansas that I always run early to, usually I'll start at 75, once I leave town I'll drop 68 on cruise and run that to get there. Yes I'm a company driver, so someone else is paying the fuel. But, all of our trucks run 74 to 82 mph, none have been turned down yet.

I've got a Penske truck, set at 73 MPH. That's fast enough to get you in trouble....
