Hub oil draining

    As for trailers almost all require pulling the hubs for S - cam bushing replacement. For the majority of them around here that is about 5 years and or 600,000 miles.

    I guess if I looked in there and the oil looked bad I’d probably change it, but I don’t think I ever have.
    On my trucks, it gets changed when you have to perform some sort of service on the axle that requires removing the oil. Other than that it never gets changed.

    My dad had a Datsun like that... Added a quart a week, changed the oil filter twice a year. Figured the oil was changing itself rapidly enough to not need to perform an actual change. At one point, a rocker arm fell off. He had the shop loctite the nut back on and drove it a couple more years like that.

    He sold that car to a high school kid for $300 with the caveat that it needed a quart a week.

    Switched out to oil less hubs on the 03 FLD at 800k. They are a non maintenance part and good for 750k or so.
