I hope some day when (if) you get your ASE diesel mechanic cert you think pf this thread and post an apology.

#1 and #2 have nothing to do with whether or not is reefer fuel.
Reefer fuel is dyed diesel and it is cheaper because there is no road tax included in the price. Your "reefer fuel" is also tractor fuel, lawn mower fuel, parts cleaner, WD-40........

What! Tell that to all the gelled up FL trucks in upstate NY. LMAO this thread must get the award for most BS replies in one thread.

EDIT: I just read your other posts in this thread and they're are all spot on so I understand you weren't talking about winter diesel v summer.

This thread is more for entertainment than knowledge. A whole lot of unfounded 'facts'.

Hide this thread from your kids!

I am wondering where the OP has been for the last several years? I also wonder/hope that he pays more attention when behind the wheel.

Up here we have 3 types

    1. #1 diesel - great for cold weather
    2. 50-50 mix which is 1/2 #1 and 1/2 #2
    3. #2 Diesel - Run this all the time
    4. Red Dye - Off road use only. No tax is applied. Basically nothing more than #2 with a dye in it. Either way, don't get caught with it in your tank...

I always thought all this info was well known.

For those that don't know what we do in the colder climates is blend #1 and #2. With the brutal cold we had this winter I typically blended mine at 30%-40% #1 and 60-70% #2. With a strong blend of #1 no additives are needed for gelling.

Your mileage suffers with the #1 and you can feel a little difference in power but not much. It sure beats spending hours trying to get a truck running that has gelled up. If you've ever had it happen you won't want to go through it again.
