i spoke with my doctor, regarding needing salt. he said drink lots of water. our bodies will do just fine. if you want (he continued) drink some gatorade, as it has some things that can be used. other than that, added salt is not absolutely necessary.

All the excuses for being overweight and/or obese in here make me want to vomit. Stop blaming everyone/everything under the sun except yourself. Take responsibility for your own actions. Your path is yours to walk. Unless you're metabolically damaged the food isn't the problem. I'm not saying HFCS is a good thing. Nor am I claiming the SAD diet is a healthy one. However, It's the portions and/or lack of exercise that's the true culprit for 95 percent of us. Stop making excuses for American obesity and start making a change. If not for you, then do it for your family, friends and communities. Leading by example is the best motivator a man could have. There are two great documentaries that touch on this subject of demonizing the fast food industry. The first is, "Supersize Me". It shows a guy eat fast food exclusively and it wrecks his health. The second, "Fathead" shows a man do the exact opposite by eating fast food exclusively yet he LOSES weight. I would highly recommend anyone to watch both!

I'm 5' 11-3/4" per the U.S. Navy. The last time I saw 178 pounds was in my late 20's training intensively for 4 hours a day, sometimes 6.
The other time was in my mid 30's when I nearly worked myself to death.
When I can get down in the 190's that's a 34 inch waste, flirting with 32, and I'm pretty buffed at that point. I don't think I will ever see 180. Maybe if I didn't have to do anything and could just train all day, but otherwise it's simply never gonna happen until I get sick & die. -

Having muscle mass definitely helps with burning calories. It takes 6 calories to support 1lb of muscle but only 2 calories to support 1lb of fat. Replace 30lbs of fat with 15lbs of muscle and you'll actually burn 30 calories more just sitting around and doing nothing.NavigatorWife and DSK333 Thank this. -
