I will put up new storm SW of Mobile Bay EAST Of Baytown in the Gulf. When NHC assigns it a name.
There are two more off Africa that will become storms. One is just ocean. Other will be a problem if it survives all that crossing in about 8 days.FlaSwampRat Thanks this. -
Flager Beach had a real time video showing a gas tanker on the beach... That you Flaswamprat??? Maybe splash some of that oil off the trailer on the cheap?
(Teasing...)
anyhow...
Its moving NW by north at 2
The problem with this storm it is a heat engine, fed by the hot ocean. If you park it over a spot and wait long enough the rain cools the waters making it too cold to feed on. Monster dies. No Trumpian Nuking necessary. (Really... nuke it anyway, Bermuda is already back to the stone age huh? ///SARCASM....)
But now the Monster is moving, seeking out warm waters to feed. Continues to weaken.
Fl is complaining about rain and wind. Come on now... crank the air and enjoy the applecakes huh? Going to get warm sooner or later.mjd4277 Thanks this. -
Bahamas is essentially ocean.
There is however a awful lot of help coming.

The Abaco islands of the Bahamas...
mjd4277 and FlaSwampRat Thank this. -
Bahamas Abaco Island is nothing left to rebuild on. It is essentially erased from the earth. Approx 70,000 live there. They already know its a grave yard. Matter of recovering the bodies before the cholera and other deadly diseases strike in a few days. Since there is no fresh water at all, you have between 70 to 120000 who will not have a drink for a very long time. Approx 3 to 5 days will kill them as their bodies shut down. There are not enough hospital beds in the entire east of the mississippi to the coast of these USA for them. We are losing a percentage.
They say the urban core is still there, partially. But it's a Pyrrhic victory. There is no port, no airport except one gravel strip and nothing of value. Airport is completely and comprehensively destroyed and then scattered to where you don'\t bring airplanes in for a very long time. Even if you sent USNHS Comfort and Mercy to that area its only 2000 beds total. A carrier can do better, supporting 10,000 on deck for a time and provide power to Freeport as well as fresh water. We I think have 5 or 6 of them in Norfolk.
We can blacken the sky with helicopters and have most everyone out in about 5000 or so sorties total.200 choppers making 25 trips each or less can lift 200,000 out in a day or two. Considering what happened in Katrina the response will not be adequate for everyone. We will lose a percentage.
We will have to stage another Dunkirk operation and get it done in a week at most.
'Total devastation': Hurricane slams parts of the Bahamasmjd4277 Thanks this. -
There is one good thing.
Concrete homes with a foot or thicker walls, floors and pillars driven to bedrock where possible and up 20 feet above ground to two or three stories have survived the storm. Sweep it out, haul out the dead, snap new windows in and hang for sale on them.
Silent monuments to what is possible to sit in your bed and laugh at any tornado or hurricane on earth. And we do not do it except in very few instances. What a waste. -
I second that. Like I said before, these clowns are taking advantage of a critical situation. They need to be shut down permanently!FlaSwampRat, x1Heavy and drvrtech77 Thank this.
