Hi ya Flat Bed, I bet there are many folks like myself that were unaware the truckersreport.com site. Most of us regarding this topic most likely were looking for some help in pursuing civil and possibly criminal action against a particular company. That was my intent when I found this forum, so I decided to put my two cents in and maybe vent a little to the only folks that would lend an ear, fellow truckers.

I, like many others and maybe even yourself, have left a few companies in the past when we felt that perhaps we weren't a good match with them. But I have never, ever, never, never been so screwed by such an unscrupulous company as Hurricane Express. It would appear that many families have faced undue hardships because of the greed that the owners are possessed with. I do look forward to the many benifits of participating in this truckers forum and communicating with other truckers.

    Have a good one.

A lot got suckered in by the BIG FAST LARGE CARS they offered, tried to warn 2 before they went there a few years ago but they were BLIND to any real advise.

Result was no $ and lots of problems.

Talk about a lot of hands in the cooke jar. A lot of middle men (all on paper) getting a piece of the pie and the driver (lease purchaser, rental truck driver, wanna be O/O) gets the leftover crumbs. How many crooked fake companies can a guy have. It's sad that drivers still hire on their.

Anyone that even thinks about working for this crook needs to have their head examined and sent to drug rehab.

    Rosebud77 and popmartian Thank this.

There is an article in october issue of truckers news where the Arkansas EEOC just won a court rulling against HurricAne express for illegally classifying drivers as independent contractors but forcing them run & operate like company trucks. The courts ruled they were circumventing the employment laws in Arkansas.

I myself being out there for yrs. assisted my neighbor, which has about 28 yrs. under the belt, decide which change he wanted to make for his future. Being a co. driver for so many years and getting older, he decided it was time to be an owner/operater. He went through all the ads and it came down to 2 that sounded like a trucker's dream. After talking to Hurricane Express, he trusted he made the right decision and went down to join this co. After all the legal stuff was completed, they gave him a 'Pete'. All the tires, except for the drives, were junk. He took out his 'Pete' on the first 4 months no payments. On his first trip, had to replace a tire on the front. He ran into other drivers that fell into the trap also, and now discovered after 4 months, he would be making almost nothing after this company started taking thier big piece of the pie. After thinking about all that was said, Hurricane sends you out with trucks that need work and new tires, so your first 4 months, you are fixing up thier trucks, only to quit after that period of time for you have no money after they start taking almost all you will now make. On his quitting day (after 1 trip) , the van driver that escorted him off the property said...for every 5 drivers I bring in, 5 drivers are going out. That should tell you something, like the name Hurricane Express...will make you feel like you been in a hurricane. Beware... From what I have read on here...How do these people sleep at night?
A good note here...The co. he quit to go to Hurricane, gladly asked him back on and also gave him his own truck, which was something they don't do.
Lesson learned 'don't get caught up in a hurricane'.:biggrin_25513:

Hurricane was started in 1991 by eddie,he started with Two trucks,One driven by myself and another by my buddy Jim.Eddie and i knew each other through bed buggin. My truck was Down and Ediie had heard this and asked if would drive for awhile for him.He also asked if i knew someone else(JIM).Eddie had cerebal palsey and could no longer drive.Eddie and I were the type of owner ops that would run till we fell out of the truck.Jim Also.Jim and i started Hauling chickens as fast as we could to the west coast and garbage back.Things went well for around three to four Months, pay was good and we was Truckin, around 4500 to 5500 a week.Eddie was Growin,Buying Trucks. But Eddie was also getting Sicker.Enter his sons,I came in one time and :biggrin_25513:had my wife with me,I parked the truck,a black t-600 with red stripes at a service shop and went to a motel with moma.I came back the next day,No truck!I asked the service guy where the truck was and he said that eddies son had come last night and taken it,I called eddie and asked what the hell was going on here? he said his boys believed that the trucks should slip seat and run always.I told Eddie i wanted to know where the truck was because we had our stuff in it and i wanted it back.He told me and i went and confronted Eddie and his boys.I got my stuff back and Eddie and i parted ways, jim Too.Im Not endorsing hurricane but i will say this if eddie is still alive then he has no hand in what is happening,he was a great trucker in his day and one hell of a Runner,My hat is off to him.It sounds from these posts that his boys have it now and if that is true,Lord Have mercy!
