Gypsy is getting the landfall there at Port Charlotte.

    thanks man!!
This thing has tore up my entire place
    All my fence $35k. Destroyed
    Shingles. Tore up
My pickup took a hit from a tree and my semi looks like a tree fell on each side as of now but winds are still ripping
Windows held up. Very minimal water in the house but daylight tomorrow might say different?

    I’ll post some pics tomorrow
Slow connection as we are still getting hammered

From one who is a target often enough for hurricanes, I feel your pain.

Here's to hoping no more damage for ya over night.

Anyone in the path, be safe, use common sense.

I spent 20 years in the administrative end of our family roofing company. I dealt with numerous hurricanes from Andrew in 1992 up through Charley, Frances, and Jeanne in 2004.

The three in 2004 eventually caused me to close the business because almost everyone got a new roof in a period of about a year leaving the prospect of future income bleak.

With Andrew, it had a second hit. First was the storm itself. Second was the rains that set in about a week later. Since there wasn't enough manpower and supplies to temporarily cover the roofs, the rains that set in on the unprotected roofs did enormous interior damage.

So very quickly you must try to get the roof temporarily covered or run the risk of a much bigger problem. Water destroys everything inside a home.

A second issue is psychological. I've dealt with a lot of customers that were traumatized by these monsters.

Part of the reason I need to get home is to be the rock that my wife needs me to be.
