The feds were nervous after screwing up with Katrina. So they ordered the evac of Houston. And then Rita missed Houston. Hit over toward Beaumont, Orange area.
I was running Fema loads with Landstar. The DPS troopers escorted convoys of 25 trucks from Ft Sam in San Antonio, the first staging area, over to stage at the Astrodome. Driving into the Houston area with NO TRAFFIC. No people on the streets. Was really weird, like in one of those science fiction movies where a guy is wandering around a major city with no people after the bomb hit.

I know-it was crazy-the way the city was almost deserted you would’ve never known it was the nation’s 4th largest city!

People make their own choices, and like you said, then have to live with the circumstances of that choice.
    Its called being an adult.

As one who lives on a barrier Island(Sandbar)..... I chose to live here, and nobody to blame but myself. Well, maybe my wife, she agreed to it. ;) My county does a decent job of providing info, and resources. Like Florida, my sandbar has been doing this for awhile with hurricanes.

Same goes with evacuating. We've had more than a few mandatory evacuations for locals, and me and others, stay. Will I stay for a category 5? Chances are that's a big no. I know when to hold'em, and when to fold'em. Crazy enough being here for a category 4.

Long as me, and the wife, and the animals are ok, well, I can rebuild. I've been through tough times before, and while it wasn't fun, I survived it, and will again if need be.

@GYPSY65 the grilling after the storm shows you are a true veteran of hurricanes. An it looks #### good. Cracks me up, here on the sandbar we do the same thing. Once the storm ends, you see grills come out, and coolers pop open. Time to enjoy that food and drink!

I’m just “a trucker” and so far I’m pushing $500,000 in damages

    insurance has been totaling everything
My guess is that there’s government $ behind all that?

    Oh well
I was able to grab a cancelled trailer order and get a $120,000 step Conestoga in the next couple weeks as mine is being totaled out

The ridges and valleys through me off, I guess those are just blisters.

Not sure if it’s from heat shrink? Or a specific type of jalapeño
My wife bought them so I suppose it could be anything
